Katia Hueso Kortekaas is a MSc in biology from the University of Leiden (Netherlands) and
a PhD in Society and Culture from the University of Barcelona. She has worked since 1994
as a consultant on environmental and local development projects in various countries in
Europe, America and Africa. Since 2002, she coordinates the Institute of Saltscapes and
Salt Heritage / IPAISAL. She regularly participates in national and international events on
nature, environment and cultural heritage as a speaker and has authored numerous
publications. She is also an adjunct professor at ICAI/Universidad Pontificia Comillas,
where she leads research projects related to the sustainable production of salt. In her free
time, she likes to be in contact with nature, reading and slow travel.
