The VIII Meeting of Traditional Iberian Salt Mines was held in Poza de la Sal

Last July the twentieth anniversary of the Association of Friends of the Salt Mines of Poza, in Burgos, was celebrated with public conferences, a fair, a salt exhibition and a theatrical visit to the town. The VIII ESTI was also convened. Representatives from neighbouring salt making sites (Añana and Léniz, in the Basque Country and Arteta in Navarre) and from further afield (Peralta and Arcos de las Salinas, in Aragon; Rasall and San Pedro del Pinatar, in Murcia; Villena, in Alicante and Rio Maior in Portugal) took part. The event was also attended by Loïc Ménanteau, a researcher from the University of Nantes in France and one of the leading academic authorities on salt-related geography.
